A Revamped Royal Townhouse
Sophisticated and stylish, discover the real Marbella at Hotel Claude
Once the summer residence of Empress Eugenia de Montijo III´s wife), Hotel Claude Marbella is a 17th-century townhouse that has been revamped and restyled to meld authentic period features with modern design. Setting a new benchmark in the league of beautiful boutique hotels, this chic retreat in the south of Spain takes its name from the late Claude Devoize, the French opera singer who made this townhouse her home back in the 7os and hosted endless soiress and cultural gatherings until the mid 80s.
The focus of otel Claude is its marble-flagged patio and its unique romantic roof terrace that overlooks the buzzing old town of Marbella. The seven rooms, divided into six superior deluxe rooms and one suite, have been designed individually to boast their own unique personality, though all come equipped with the latest in comfort and technology. The Suite Francesa is the only room that looks out onto the old town´s main street. A large balcony and a huge floor to-ceiling window keep it bright and airy while the high, wood-beamed ceilings and decorative arch create a sense of spaciousness. All six superior deluxe rooms are located to the back of the building and overlook neighbouring patios and roofs. Up in the eaves, the Flamand room overlooks the roof terrace and has its own private stairwell that leads up to a smart lodt-style studio with glossy oak floors and a semi-open-plan bathroom. The two North African-themed rooms "Savannah" and "Marroqui"oined by a balcony overlooking a small private courtyard, making them ideal for families or friends travelling together
Small properties can sometimes feel stifling, but not here. The design incorporates a flurry of velvet, purples, reds and cream colours. Focusing of showing guests a slice of the old Marbella in addition to the Costa del Sol´s beaches and golf courses, staff at Hotel Claue make sure can slow down and enjoy the local areas and surroundings.
So once the à la carte breakfast has been served either in the restaurant or on the roof terrace, guests are left to their own devices. You´d be hard-pressed to find a at as slick or private as the Claude anywhere else in Marbella.
